A Long Way Gone Post #2

Quote#1:"To this day, I carry the pain that my sisters and parents felt."Saidu, pg.80
Significance: of this quote is that Saidu had to hear his sisters being raped and his parents being beaten. This is the burden that Saidu has to carry around until he dies.
Character Judgement: Saidu is really a shy and quiet kid and I'm like that sometimes when I'm around new people I don't know like at parties or people's house and I'm quiet outside of school when I'm with my family.
Question#1: What do you think would have happen if Ishmael had gone and seen his parents before the attack?
Quote#2:"They have lost everything that makes them human." Lieutenant Jabati,pg.108
Significance: I agree with the Lieutenant because what the Rebels do aren't even cable for the sickest thug in the world. In order for the Rebels to do the things they do you can't be human to do what they do.
Character Judgement: I like Lieutenant because he is like me when he is reading. When I get in the same state as him is when I'm playing a video game that I'm trying to beat or when I'm reading a book and it gets real good in the book then I get in a state which it is hard for you to get me out of.
Question#2: Do you think that Ishmael will see the Lieutenant later in life?

Quote #1: I think that you are right about the horrible burden that Saidu has to carry on his shoulders that he can never forget. I think that he can relate to any perosn that survived the war. All survivors of that war have to carry around that burden because they are all victims.
Question #1: I think that if Ishmael hadn't left to go to Matru Jong with his brother and friends then he would be in a completely different situation. Had he gone to see them before the attack and left before the rebels came then I think that he would have less of a burden to carry around.
Quote #2: I also agree with the Lieutenant because the rebels start from when they are kidnapped to kill. I think that rebels do not behave as humans because they have no mercy and follow any order.
Question #2: I am not sure if Ishamel will see the Lieutenant later in life because the Lieutenant may not survive the war. If Ishmael does somehow see him later I am sure that he would be happy to have someone that understands his expirience.

Quote #1: I agree totally with what you thought this quote meant. I agree with you totally agree with how you said that you think Saidu had to go through those horrific times. I don't think that your personal reflection has anything to do with the quote but good job reflecting on his personality.
Question #1: I think he would have been in a brand new situation. Although he didn't go, it is a war zone. He could have been attacked at any moment of that day.
Quote #2: I agree with you partially on your opinion. I can imagine the rebels kid napping and forcing children to work and massacring people. An example is in the civil war in Burma. Whole tribes are attacked and burned daily. Although it is a sick and inhumane thing, you have can not do anything.
Question #2: I believe they will if lieutenant actually survives. It's really hard to say right now, I have to read more in the story to really know.
